City Council

The City Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 7:00 in the City Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall.

	Lynne Branigan City Council Member Lynne began her service on the City Council in January 2004 and is currently serving her second four-year term. Her civil background spans over 25 years of volunteer work and board of director positions. She also served as Chairman of the Council Bluffs Civil Rights Commission. Lynne is a graduate of Leadership CB and is the past President of CeeBee Ambassadors and Celebrate CB (Pride Week), and has been the voice of the annual parade since 2000. Lynne has also been involved with numerous organizations including Noon Rotary, Bluffs Arts Council, Heartland Hosts, SW Eight Services, IWCC, Jaycees and volunteered for many others. She is a graduate of ALHS, IWCC, Bellevue University and holds a B.S. in Global Business Management. Lynne is the International Sales Manager for Warren Distribution, and has facilitated the sale of products made here in Council Bluffs to more than fifty countries worldwide. She previously served on the Board of Directors of Midwest International Trade Association and is currently serving as a member of the U.S. Dept. of Commerce District Export Council. 	Melissa M Head City Council Member Melissa Head is a native of Council Bluffs and a graduate of Lewis Central High School, Iowa Western Community College, Buena Vista University (Council Bluffs Campus), and Creighton University School of Law. Melissa has been an active member of the Iowa Bar Association since 2004. She is a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Office of Counsel, Omaha District, and supported our troops in Operation Iraqi Freedom by doing three tours of duty in Iraq and Kuwait as a Department of the Army civilian. She serves on the board of the Council Bluffs YMCA and the Council Bluffs Service League. Her family - parents, Ray and Karen Head; grandfather, George Head; brothers Erik Head and Justin Head; and sister-in-law Christine Collins-Head, are all lifelong residents of Council Bluffs.	mhead@CouncilBluffs-IA.Gov
	Matt Walsh City Council Member First elected to the City Council in 1995, Matt Walsh is currently serving his third four-year term. Matt also serves as the City Council liaison to both the Council Bluffs Public Library and the Mid-American Convention Center. Walsh is a graduate of Creighton University. He is a banker by trade, specializing in commercial business financing. He is a fourth generation resident of Council Bluffs.	MWalsh@CouncilBluffs-IA.Gov
	Nate Watson City Council Member Nate Watson was elected to the City Council in 2011. Nate is a native of Council Bluffs and a graduate of St. Albert High School, Boston University (political science and history), and Drake University School of Law (legislative practice). He has experienced working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., at Parliament in London, England, in the Iowa Senate, and at the Iowa Ethics & Campaign Disclousure Board. In his first five years in practice, he helped represent several small towns througout Iowa, gaining valuable experience in Iowa Municipal Law. Nate continues to represent several Iowans and Iowa small businesses as a member of the state and federal bar associations of Iowa and Nebraska. He co-founded his neighborhood association, founded the first neighborhood alliance in our community, served on the Mayor's Neighborhood Cabinet, is a past president of the Young Professionals' Division of the Chamber of Commerce, and remains actively involved in several non-profit organizations throughout Council Bluffs.
	Sharon White City Council Member Sharon White is a native of Council Bluffs and a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. Sharon has served as the Chairwoman of the Human Relations Commission and Planning and Zoning Commission. She is a graduate of Leadership CB and is the past President of the Board of Realtors, Habitat for Humanity and CeeBee Ambassadors.
